Chapter 4 Fine Arts: Wet-on-Wet Painting

Background

Have you ever seen an apple tree in full bloom? Whether it is a single tree or a whole orchard of trees, the sight of a blossoming apple tree is a beautiful sight.

Create a watercolor picture:

Find a picture of a blossoming apple tree. Try to recreate the picture with the wet-on-wet watercolor technique. Or, if you feel really artistic, make up a scene of your own!

Wet-on-Wet Technique

  1. Dip your brush in clean water, and wet the entire sheet of paper you are using
  2. Wet one pad of watercolor paint, and fill your brush with that color of paint.
  3. Brush the color onto the sheet of paper.
  4. Apply dots and lines and watch as the color expands.
  5. Rinse your brush before you apply a second color of paint.
  6. Lay your picture flat to dry after you finish it.
