When discussing different trains and train companies, a person had to be knowledgeable of the acronyms that identified each train. You may recognize the more familiar acronyms if you’ve ever played a game of Monopoly, but there are virtually hundreds of railroad companies with hundreds of different acronyms. Look at the list in the following table to see whether you can find a pattern on how acronyms were assigned. Then write the acronyms of the railroads listed in the second table.
