Analyzing Skills
The Analyzing Skills segments focus on a variety of skills historians use when studying the past. They include mapping activities, reading of charts and graphs, the use of primary sources, as well as studying timelines.

Current Issues
The Current Issues highlight current events in the Pacific Northwest region. The Updates are designed to encourage students to evaluate the event or situation, and then form an opinion about and a solution to the subject.

Fine Arts
The Fine Arts lessons allow students to creatively express themselves. The segments focus on life in the pioneer days, and include a variety of modes of expression, such as Native American Art, poetry, and creative drama.

Folktales
The Folktales segments are compiled from stories of groups of people who journeyed to America. As people have journeyed to America to build railroads, farm the land, and build communities, they have added to the rich cultural heritage of our nation. These folktales were used to pass their culture's beliefs and values to future generations.

Interactive Science
The Interactive Science application brings the Journeys' biomes to life. The Biomes highlight the physical attributes of a given area, including its wildlife, vegetation, landforms, and climate. Students are encouraged to compare the unique characteristics of one Biome against another.

Math
The Mathematics section is designed to assist students in understanding how basic mathematical skills were utilized by explorers on a daily basis as well as being applicable still in current life situations.

Native American Profile
The Native American Profiles highlight the culture and traditions of the Native American tribes the explorers encountered in the Pacific Northwest Region.

Social Studies
The Social Studies segments focus on people, places, or events that played an important role in the opening of the West. Explorations in these segments allow students to dig deeper into the history of western life in the early days.

World Events
The World Events section allows students to see what was happening in other parts of the United States and the world at the same time the West was being settled. The segments allow students to compare and contrast the experiences of the western pioneers to others around the world.
